Faith-Based Medical Care/Biblical Intervention - Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenya $7,500

Special note:  LCMS World Relief and Human Care will match 1:1 any grant funding provided by the LWML for mission/human care ministry in Kenya via the ELCK.

At the 62nd Regular LCMS Convention in 2004, it was voted by an overwhelming majority to declare altar and pulpit fellowship with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenya (ELCK).  ELCK consists of 440 congregations, 130 pastors, 200 lay evangelists, 48 deaconesses, and 70,000 members.  The most pressing need in Kenya is the pandemic HIV/AIDS plague that has risen alarmingly. It is necessary to plan and implement a biblically based faith-based medical intervention for the ELCK that stresses a God-pleasing view toward the sanctity of marriage and the sanctity of life through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  These funds will be used to expand the HIV/AIDS Program, expand three community school facilities, institute a sewing program, refurbish existing medical and dental facilities, and provide supplies. Also counseling services within the health unit and training of church workers is to be involved.

Oh Heavenly Father,

You know the needs of the people in Kenya who suffer from HIV/AIDS. We are thankful that there is a program that will help those in need of treatment. We ask that people will come to know the God-pleasing views on the sanctity of marriage and the sanctity of life through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Teach them the consequences of sin. We pray that the ravages of these diseases will be stopped. Bless the giving of our mites to this worthy program in Kenya.

In His holy name we pray. Amen.
